A Good Way to Get Tied Up

I think it's the intricate symmetry of knots that I find so appealing. My friends over at The {NewNew} will be on Governor's Island this Saturday leading a how-to session on making this perfect-for-summer bracelet.

However, if you can't get to Governor's Island, may I suggest a few other way to incorporate the look into your day-to-day?

C-Line Creations' personal accessories are knottily graphic and come in great colors. I did a feature on designer Jessiaca Tai earlier this year:

Meli Anna A coaxes wire into knot-like configurations for a unique look:

Joanne Tracey Designs often uses contrasting thread for her hand-knotted necklaces:

And I've even tried my hand knotting a time or two:

Many of these items, and more, may be found on Etsy using "newnewnteam knotted" as your search. Enjoy!

An Inventive Mind

I love this Cephalopod Sconce from Jenny Topolski. It's so pretty, and yet delightfully weird. Jenny has an eye for the unusual, taking natural forms with a tint of the macabre -- octopi, bees, bones, brains, germs -- and transforming them into beautifully strange objects.

I did an interview with Jenny for the HandmadeNY blog from the {NewNew}. Learn more about what inspires, what makes her tick, and how she was robbed of much deserved recognition early on in her career at www.thenewnew.blogspot.com
