Pret A Portea

Now, you too can drink from the fountain of fashion! Enjoy the essence of Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell with these teabags created by German novelty company Donkey Products. Previously only available in select parts of Europe, the teabags are available at Colette, which ships to the United States.

$11.75 seems a small price to pay to have Naomi in hot water in the palm of your hand.

What are waiting for?

(Somewhere in here, there's a joke about fashionable teabagging just begging to be made, but I'm going to be refrain. That doesn't mean you have to...)

One Granny, Two Granny, Three Granny, Four...

Blame it on the alcohol...

This past Saturday my friend Capital T hosted a crafty afternoon for the ladies. I brought Prosecco. CapT baked. Several ladies brought dessert.

Not much crafting happened.

However, I did announce my intention to crochet an afghan like my Nana used to make, with granny squares. Only after several mango mimosas, I couldn't quite figure out the pattern.

Several unfortunate attempts later, all of which I unraveled so as to spare anyone else the horror of a granny square gone awry (not pretty let me tell you), I finally managed on Sunday to finish a halfway decent, almost square granny:

Elated, I made another. And it was better:

I'm hooked y'all, pun intended. More granny square love to come. At the rate I'm going (two squares a day), I should have this bad boy sewn up in about two months. Give or take a mimosa-soaked Saturday afternoon...

Atlantic Antic This Sunday

Find The {NewNew} at the Atlantic Antic

One of my most favorite street fairs is coming up this weekend...The Atlantic Antic! Practically a Brooklyn institution, this annual street fair stretches for ten blocks and features some truly amazing food, music, and a real selection of local merchant and artisan wares.

Plus, my good friends at the {NewNew} will be out in full force. Click on the map above for a downloadable version on Flickr.

Going, Going, Going...

$20 gemstone earrings? Not possible...at least not after September 30th. The last days of my end-of-summer sale are fast approaching. And these sweet little earrings are going just as fast.

A Brief History of Letterpress

Letterpress is the new pink in the world of handmade paper goods, but....well, what is it? Here's a short, well-illustrated, and perfectly lovely primer from poppytalk, so you can not only appreciate, but understand.

A few of my favorite letterpresses:

Summer Stars

Summer Stars

Bend low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long-arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.
