Holiday Cavalcade Goody Bag

I made these really cool boxes for the Holiday Cavalcade goody bags on December 3:

Okay, I didn't make the boxes, but I did adorn them in classic persuede style.  First, I made a stencil from an old metro card:

And then I stenciled the star is multiple colors to create a cool 3D effect.

Each box has my business card inside, and a unisex leather bracelet.

 Whoever wins that goody bag is going to be a very happy camper! I had so much fun with it, I decided to make a limited edition of holiday cards utilizing the same technique but in different colors and materials. I'll post pictures of those in a day or so.

I got a little color-combo-crazy and made a bunch of different colorways using vintage white glass column beads I've had FOREVER (ie: found in the back of my stash drawer in a bag closed with yellow, aged tape) and various semi-precious stones. Luv, luv, luv! Wish I could wear them all.

Warm and Fuzzy

In between making jewelry, cooking, and obsessively checking for the latest Mercy Thompson novel, I've been making these:

As you know from last Tuesday's post, I love a striped scarf. Plus, I've always been intrigued by color and pattern, playing with gemstones in unique combinations. Now I'm applying the same principles to my hand-crocheted scarves, reinterpreting the stripes into extra long silk and mohair mufflers. They're perfect for staying stylishly warm. And they can be worn in so many ways!
